About Our Food & FAQs

What Sets Our Food Apart

At Smells Like Home, every dish is prepared with the same care and attention I give to my own family’s meals.

My name is Orly Gal, and my priority is to nourish you with clean, wholesome food made from the highest-quality ingredients.

Fruits and Vegetables

Here’s what makes our meals special:

  • Only organic and non-GMO ingredients are used in every recipe.

  • Animal products are sustainably and humanely raised — never factory-farmed.

  • A diverse, ever-changing menu featuring both hearty and plant-based dishes, rich in nutrients and superfoods.

  • Everything is made from scratch, including sauces, marinades, and dressings.

  • We avoid harmful additives and questionable ingredients such as nitrites, nitrates, “natural flavors,” artificial colors, and preservatives.

  • All water used in cooking is purified through a reverse osmosis filtration system for clean, fresh taste.

  • Our fats and oils are carefully chosen for quality and health: organic olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, and grass-fed butter. Grapeseed and walnut oils are used occasionally when a recipe calls for them.

Every meal is prepared with love, balance, and a commitment to both flavor and well-being.

Who is cooking your food?

My name is Orly Gal, and I bring years of hands-on cooking experience to every meal I prepare. For over 10 years, I worked as a cook and supervisor at a Jewish senior living facility, where I prepared meals for more than 150 people daily.

Beyond that, I’ve spent many years cooking for private events and holidays, providing clients with full-course meals or special dishes to complement their celebrations.

Cooking for others brings me joy — it’s my way of sharing warmth, comfort, and the taste of home with every plate.

What Kind of Cooking Equipment Is Used?

I cook using HexClad, stainless steel, and non-toxic enamel pans to maintain both safety and quality.
All utensils are wood, stainless steel, or silicone, and there is no reactive plastic or Teflon used in my kitchen.

Every step of the cooking process is kept as clean and health-conscious as the ingredients themselves.

How Is My Food Packaged?

We recommend that clients purchase two sets of glass containers that can be rotated during deliveries or pickups. Containers are returned at the next delivery for reuse.

If you prefer disposable containers, we use a combination of eco-friendly cardboard and BPA-free plastic when needed. All food is cooled before being placed in plastic containers to reduce any risk of toxin exposure.

What Steps Are Taken to Ensure the Safety of My Food?

I hold a ServSafe Food certification and carefully follow all recommended safety practices during the procurement, transport, preparation, and storage of your meals.

If you have any specific questions about food safety or handling, please feel free to contact me directly.
